Frequently Asked Questions

How do you feel about a state lottery?
K. L. response:
I have to believe that we can fund our state budgets without the use of a lottery. I am opposed to gambling to rescue us from our financial woes. As a rule gambling hurts those families with the least amount of resources. I witnessed it first hand when the dog track opened in Mobile over 30 years ago. All you had to do to see the negative results of gambling was to ride through the parking lot and look at the cars parked there. Many of them belonged to families that could not afford to be gambling, but went to the tracks to try to "strike it rich", many times spending their weekly paychecks, only to return home with less than they had and having to struggle until the next paycheck arrived.

What do you believe is the most important issue facing Alabama?
K. L. response:
Ethics reform has to be one of the most important issues facing Alabamians. Most of us are tired to seeing governors, legislators, and mayors going to prision for taking kickbacks, or outright stealing from us. Pac to pac transfers does nothing but encourage dishonesty in state government. I think the climate is right for reform. If elected, I will work hard to try to pass legislation that will clean up the environment in Montgomery and make us hold our heads high when we go around the world and try to recruit businesses to come to Alabama. How do you think business owners feel when we are recruiting them to come here and they read of all the corruption in Alabama? We have to make them believe that this is a good environment to raise their families and to get hard working employees that care about their companies.
